Introducing MySource Meter for CREC Members ...
What is MySource Meter?
MySource Meter is a free service offered by Central Rural Electric Cooperative that allows members to monitor their daily and monthly energy use on www.mysource.coop.
How does it work?
Simply speaking, CREC takes a reading of your meter each day. That data is translated into a graph that will appear on your MySource Meter page.
Technically speaking, CREC is taking advantage of a Two Way Automatic Communications System. TWACS allows CREC to read your meter each day and eliminates the need for CREC to send a meter reader to your property each month. By taking that technology a step further, CREC takes that data and transforms it into a graph so you can chart your electricity use.
How can I use the information MySource Meter provides?
By monitoring your daily energy use, you will be able to see the effects various factors have on your electricity use. For example, you can see the difference in your energy use on weekends compared to week days. You can also see the difference in your energy use when you have friends or family visit.
MySource Meter will also allow you to compare the previous year’s monthly data to the current year’s monthly data. If you have implemented any energy conservation practices into your home, you will be able to see the effects they had on your monthly use.
MySource Meter can also help you determine the effects of energy-saving ideas, such as adding insulation, caulking windows or weather stripping your home’s thermal envelope.
